When you love your neighbour

In a way you could say that the Bible’s whole message begins and ends with love. God sent His son because He loves us. He let him die for our sake, because He loves us.

When you choose to live a life with Jesus you choose a love-focused life. We are reminded time and again to love our neighbour, the people around us. As if that is the most natural thing for us to do. Still, it’s not always the easiest thing to do. In Matthew 25:40 we can read: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” In this simile it’s as if God makes love something very practical. That which sometimes can be difficult to grasp. We can answer God’s love by loving our neighbour - our classmates, friends, teachers, someone on the bus.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Even if it can feel like a small thing we can start to see that it can make a difference and that above everything it can be a way of thanking God. To see the lonely, to stand up against injustice and unfairness, to give of your time and effort - those are actions of love that can give thanks to Jesus.

Easter is the ultimate proof of God’s love. Let this easter be about loving those you meet and letting them know that there is a God who loves them so much that He died to save them from their own sin.
