Don´t let the fire fade out

The definition of this word, commitments, is to be engaged in something. To be committed means that you stay faithful evens when it gets tough.

In the bible, we find tons of stories about people who show commitment. One of these stories is written in the book of Acts, 16:16- 40. This piece is about the Apostle Paul’s second missionary trip and we are going to jump right in when Paul and Silas are worshipping in a prison cell. They had been imprisoned and lashed out because they preached the gospel and drove out bad spirits out of people. After hours of worshipping and prayer, a violent earthquake began and all of the prisoners' doors flew open and everyone's chains flew loose. When the jailer woke up and saw that all the prisoners were loose, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself. Paul shouted “Don´t harm yourself. We are all here!” The jailer was amazed and his heart opened up for Christ and Paul and Silas were released.

“They didn´t let their fire fade out and worshipped Christ through the unwise”

Cool right? There are a bunch of lessons we can learn from this story but we are going to focus on the fact that Paul and Silas stayed faithful even when things didn´t turn out the way they planned. They didn´t know how long they were going to be in prison, but they knew that God was in control. They didn´t let their fire fade out and worshipped Christ through the unwise. And what happened? Doores opened up and someone's heart softened for Christ.

You may not be in a prison cell, but you may at least recognize that when things don´t go as planned it is difficult to stay faithful. Therefore I want to drop some encouragement to you - stay faithful. Worship through the unwise and difficult times. Keep on praying, keep on spreading love and keep on with your New Generation group. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” Gal 6:9. Your classmates will hear about Christ, doors will open and hearts will soften - as long as we don´t give up.
