To love your neighbor

In the gospels, we get to follow Jesus' time on earth. We get to dive in deep in all the miracles, healings, parables and so much more - nice! Something we also get to read about is how Jesus treats others. We can find a consistent theme throughout the gospels that Jesus greets everyone with love. Why?

Let's get this straight - God sent his one and only son to the world to die. Jesus was betrayed, disowned, and crucified by those he loved. Jesus died a sinner's death, so we who sin daily can live in the spirit of grace, mercy, and love. (1 Joh. 4:16-18)

So, keep that in mind next time you step into your school. Jesus died for your classmates. He died for your teacher. He even died for your principal, youth leader, and bus driver. He died for your sake. The christian message of love is grounded on how we treat others. Galatians 5:14 says “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself”. There are many different ways to love your neighbor. For example, if someone in your class is having a bad day you could invite them for coffee. Or if someone is having lunch alone - you could join them. Don’t be frugal with compliments. It all comes down to not only love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

You can, like Jesus treat others with love. You can, like Jesus love your neighbor. You can choose to treat others and yourself like someone died for them - because someone did just that.
