God speaks to Samuel

When Samuel was a teenager he heard God's voice for the first time. To hear God's voice at this time in history were something quite unusual. In the temple where Samuel worked, people were much older and more knowledgeable than Samuel. Maybe it would have been more reasonable if God chose to talk to one of the elders but He chooses to talk to Samuel, which is quite a usual act of God. For Him, it has never been about the most knowledgeable or predictable person - He's always looking for a willing heart. Samuel then grew up to become one of the biggest and most influential prophets in the country. God's and Samuel's journey began when he was a teenager - dare to believe that God cares about you, loves you and want to use you for His kingdom.
